Дуриан: фрукт с «адским запахом и божественным вкусом».
Из всех известных фруктов именно дуриан заслужил столь полярные характеристики. И даже невозможно представить, насколько они соответствуют действительности. Какими только эпитетами не награждают его аромат! Запах разлагающейся плоти, протухшей луковицы, грязных носков, туалета, тухлых яиц... Англичанин, посетивший Сиам в 19 веке так описывает свои впечатления от аромата дуриана: «это сродни поеданию селедки с сыром с плесенью над открытым канализационным люком». И после всего этого его называют «королем фруктов»?! Неужели такое возможно? Возможно, - отвечают тайцы, малазийцы, - если, зажав нос и преодолев отвращение, вы все-таки попробуете мякоть дуриана. И только тут поймете, насколько у нее «божественный» вкус.

Выбираю отель на tripadvisor'е. Не могу не выбрать отель, которому гость посвятил такие стихи

I can never forget our stay relished at Palm Beach Resort, Thavorn ,
For rich aromatic natural environment and Thai hospitality tradition..
Passage both sides was enclosed by tall dense& lush palm green trees.
Feeling of tranquility may be of next day visited nearby beach breeze.

Attracting marbled statues of Lord Rama & Buddha drew our attention.
We were welcomed by a typical Thai bow by a smiling girl at Reception.
She verified our passports and took us to Deluxe room already reserved,
Apprised us of various room items and also what could or not be served.

Knife, -bananas, oranges pineapple &unknown fruits were kept in a plate,
It appeared difficult to cut strong uncut pineapple-- let me honestly state.
Surprising -it was already cut into small slices but structured as uncut one,
By so delicious fruits, never tasted before, our hearts the resort really won.
There were green palm leaves on the table, in front of rooms and the bed,
In preserving natural environment –as recorded the resort had always led.

No vegetarian dinner was available& Fruits had increased our appetite,
We went to nearby market and took vegetable dinner at 1130 at night.
Best part of entire stay, was 35 mouth watering items displayed In Breakfast
Fruit salads, juices, milk, tea, omlete, noodles, breads, toast taste long to last.
A microwave kept there to warm dishes implied resort’s concern for our care
Open, airy, neat and clean big dinning hall, all included in Resort’s room fare.

Mesmerized to see from the room terrace Karon beach’s crystal clear view,
The Andaman Sea with waves and drops visible- looked every second new.
Also we could see greenery maintained and clean 5 swimming pools.
& for famous Thi massage and sun bath the marbled slanting stools.

Free conveyance provided in cozy AC shuttles was again happy surprise,
To Petong Beach,its Five Star Hotel in City we felt our decision was wise.</center>

We ordered one bottle of water at night on phone to the reception,
Served soon, costlly 60 Baht for half litre, we offered our declination.

The waiter gladly and smilingly cancelled our order,
His remarks –No problem. Thanks. As you please Sir.
I would be concealing something if I do not mention
Free bottles were already served -one for each one.

The room had a Sony TV, different from our home TV, but its remote,
Exactly same -model- RM-W101 gave me joy and I felt as on home cot.

Inscribed legend of her love for birds & animals I forgot it was so cool.
Long Cruiser trip to beach Phi Phi & back would remain in our hearts,
Till life declines on ageing advanced, memory fades and soul departs.
At 630 AM we had to depart, in paper boxes, they packed breakfast.
And canned juices too. Welcome Next Time gesture – all happy at last.
I wish to visit Phi Phi Beach once more and stay in same Thavorn,
Till 55 years, every moment of the stay was so far life’s best One.
Only suggestions -drivers and staff should know English,
Dinner and lunch should include Indian vegetable dish.
